Y3 really enjoyed Build-a-Bot with Mr Court today. Some great robots were created from bits of wood and junk - fab fun!
As part of our Sharing Shoreham initiative, we are inviting children from other schools to do this workshop on Monday!

Congratualtions to one of our very lovely and valued members of staff Kate Maher, who graduated from her PhD course in Education last weekend and will now be known as Dr Maher!
Dr Maher joined us last year as an LSA after working in Japan as a University lecturer teaching English, research skills and contemporary British society and culture.

Old Shorehamer Rebecca Hemingway, Grenville House 2011-2018, who is completing her final year of Modern and Medieval Languages and Linguistics degree at Downing College, Cambridge, came to 腦瞳憫 for the day to shadow her former Spanish teacher here Miss Spinks.
It was lovely to see Rebecca thriving and on a career path that she decided upon during her years with us. Language learning was a passion which was cultivated during my time at Shoreham. Ms Spinks went above and beyond to push me, which is what I believe inspired me to pursue languages further. Coming back to Shoreham was totally surreal! It was lovely to see all the familiar faces I grew up surrounded by. Ms Spinks was kind enough to let me sit in on her lessons so I could get an idea of what it's like to be a Spanish teacher which was truly insightful and I thank her for that.
You are welcome back anytime Rebecca and we wish you all the best for the future.

What a beautiful crisp sunny day, perfect for being creative in the forest. The kitchen was serving the finest forest food, nature provided excellent material for creating mandalas, wands were whittled, time to chill in the hammocks, and there was plenty of room by the fire to sit and enjoy a hot chocolate. #forestschool

We took 10 athletes over to the Sussex Schools Cross-country Championships at Waterhall, Brighton.
It was a fresh afternoon with a beautiful clear blue sky, but the course was very testing around the hilly Waterhall setting. The girls, Eden, Hannah, Ella and Sylvie set off first in the junior girls' event of nearly 250 runners.
In the 2nd race of the day, we had 7 boys take part in the 4300m junior boys event. George, in Year 9, finished in 2nd place, hot on the heels of the races winner, this was a super result only two days after he was crowned South of England 800m Indoor Champion on the weekend.
There were some other notable finishes in this event of 350 runners, Ruben, also in Year 9, finished in 50 place, whilst Gino, in Year 8, was close behind in 59th and Ollie, also in Year 7, finished the race in a respectable 131st, to give the boys a team score of 242.
